The Real Men Club
Support guide

For friends and family

How to help a man who says he is fine, but does not seem fine.

Many men say they are fine because they do not want to explain, worry others, look weak, or be lectured. The goal is not to force a confession. The goal is to make it safer for him to tell the truth.

Next 20 minutes

Keep the next step small.

1

Ask if he is safe right now.

2

Stay on the call instead of giving a speech.

3

Help him move to a safer room or near another person.

4

Encourage professional or emergency support when risk is immediate.

What to say

Try: I do not need the full story right now. I just want to stay with you for a while.

Try: You do not have to perform strength with me. I can listen without fixing everything.

Try: Are you safe where you are right now?

What not to say

Do not shame him, mock him, compare him, or say he should be strong.

Do not argue with his pain. Acknowledge it first. You can guide later.

How to stay on call

Keep your voice slow. Ask him to turn on a light, open the door, drink water, and move near another person.

If immediate danger is present, prioritize emergency or professional help. Stay connected if it is safe to do so.

Real help stays close.
